Tollywood producer DS Rao, who is making the film titled Chammak Challo, reportedly received a notice of infringement of copyright from shah rukh khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment as Chammak Challo was the most popular song from their sci-fi film Ra.One.
Rao denies receiving any notice but he seems to have forgotten that the new copyright act has recently been passed by the Parliament and no one can infringe on the intellectual copyright of creatives, particularly in the film industry. Bandla Ganesh paid a bomb for Gabbar Singh title.
In fact, the same producer was in a copyright hassle for his last film Mr. Nokia. When the telecom giant objected to its brand name being used without their permission, he had to shell out a hefty royalty and had to change the name of the film as Mr Nookayya, which of course was a dud at the box office.
Chammak Challo, starring Varun Sandesh, Sanchita Padukone and Catherine, is being directed by Neelakantha. It is expected to release in July.
